[Hong Kong, 21 November 2025] , Following the “Outstanding Mechanical Engineering Alumni” from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) in 2017, Ir Dr. Angus Cheung, Chief Executive Officer of Aerovision Technology Limited (ATL), has recently been awarded the “Outstanding Alumni Award in Professional Achievement of PolyU Faculty of Engineering”. The award was officially presented at the 31st Congregation of the Faculty of Engineering, PolyU this year.
“Outstanding Alumni Award in Professional Achievement of PolyU Faculty of Engineering” is set up to recognize outstanding PolyU graduates for their remarkable professional achievements, profound devotion and support to their alma mater, as well as far-reaching social impact. This award is proof of Ir Dr. Angus Cheung’s exceptional professional achievements and outstanding leadership in his field.
In his speech, Ir Dr. Angus Cheung expressed his heartfelt gratitude to his alma mater and family, and he delivered a special message to the graduates present: “You are entrusted with a great task and blessed with limitless potential. In today’s era, engineering and technology have become the prime driving force behind global economic development, and our society is in urgent need of your talents and passion. I hope you will bravely face the challenges, make the most out of the practical platforms provided by PolyU, and keep your spirit of exploration alive. train yourselves here and jointly lay the foundation for the future.”
Ir Dr. Angus Cheung holds Chartered Engineer status in the UK and Australia, as well as the title of Professorate Senior Engineer in China. With over 30 years of research and development and management experience in aviation, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, artificial intelligence and other fields, he currently serves as Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and Adjunct Professor PolyU. In addition, he also takes on roles as Visiting Professor and Advisor for different universities in Hong Kong and Overseas. He has been actively promoting industry-academia-research collaboration, and his achievements in integrating technology with enterprise development have earned him a lot of accolades, including being named “China’s Outstanding Persons for Enterprise Innovation” and “China Economic Personage”, etc.
Ir Dr. Angus Cheung has long been committed to improving the development of Hong Kong’s aviation, engineering and technology industries. Under his leadership, Aerovision has independently developed a range of innovative products with international patents and received many different awards. Not only that these innovative products are now being used in Hong Kong, he also represented Hong Kong to introduce the company’s innovative products like “Sentry Drone System for Early Alert of GNSS Interference” and “Intelligent Baggage/Air Cargo Thermal Detection System” to the representatives from different civil aviation authorities attending the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Asia Pacific Conference held in Bangkok in June this year. Furthermore, the “Intelligent Baggage/Air Cargo Thermal Detection System” was being included in the nation’s Innovation Working Paper presented to the General Assembly of ICAO under United Nations for the adoption by other nations in July 2025.
Going forward, Ir Dr. Angus Cheung will continue to lead Aerovision’s energetic team in developing innovative technology solutions that can further enhance the development of industries in Hong Kong, the nation, and the world, fueling global economic growth.
