[Hong Kong, 16 October 2025] Since its launch, the “Intelligent Air Cargo/Baggage Thermal Detection System”—independently developed with proprietary patents by Aerovision Technology Limited (ATL)—has garnered widespread attention from the industry and been recognized with multiple awards from various academic and professional institutions. Demonstrating exceptional effectiveness in operational scenarios such as Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) and Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), the system has fully showcased its superior performance.
Following its debut presentation on behalf of Hong Kong to representatives of civil aviation authorities in the Asia-Pacific region at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting held in Bangkok last June, the system was subsequently adopted by ICAO during the 42nd Assembly on July 28, 2025. Incorporated into ICAO’s official documents, it has been formally released to over 190 member states worldwide, aiming to introduce the application of this innovative system to enhance aviation safety and efficiency.
With the expansion of global trade and the development of e-commerce, the logistics industry has grown rapidly, leading to a larger volume of dangerous goods being shipped via air cargo, and an increase of associated safety incidents and pressure in regulatory control. To address this industry challenge, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), the China Academy of Civil Aviation Science and Technology (CAST), and the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department (HKCAD) have jointly prepared a working paper, selecting high-quality systems recognized by all parties to feature in the paper.
Our system’s renewed international recognition highlights the reliability and superiority of ATL’s “Intelligent Air Cargo/Baggage Thermal Detection System” and its significance in aviation safety. It also demonstrated the contribution of this innovative technology to support the development needs of global civil aviation and to showcase Hong Kong’s innovative achievements to the world.
